See you in Google - Guest Post

This guest post was written by Ascen Perez.

In the information epoch, we are surrounded by all kinds of advertisements in the street we pass, in the television we watch but now the more popular way is to see a webpage full of banners. The method of advertising has transformed a lot due to the development of internet.

The conventional advertising method such as television and radio is losing its importance as before especially for the young generation. Imagine the people who are sitting in front the television now. Nearly all the people who have access to internet do not have the patience to wait for their program after seeing many tiring advisements, otherwise, they turn to the computer which provides all the information they want. In this way, the advertisement also turns their direction to the presence online. Therefore, the optimization in search engines such as Google and Bing plays an important role in online advertising.

Engaging with Bloggers - A Nigerian Experience

It's very interesting to see the similarities and differences between bloggers abroad and in Nigeria. Blogging is something which is slowly picking up in Nigeria and it's really exciting to see the different things people are coming up with daily.

From a blogger perspective, I've had a few experience of working with Nigeria startups looking to market their product and services and it's great! I love the fact that businesses are engaging with bloggers more and more. Obviously, its easier for businesses that have loads of advertising money but for the startups they have to be a little more creative with their ideas.

SEO and Marketing - My Challenge for 2014

I love SEO, it's a great and cheap way to build your brand, business and product. But I also know there are a number of other marketing channels out there which are just as important and relevant to any business. I say this because any business focusing on SEO only doesn't really stand a chance, what with Google messing around so much and playing master with so many business and brands out there.

So, what other marketing channels am I talking about?

Fidelity Bank of Nigeria Blogger Scheme

I recently came across a Nigerian blogger program via NigerianBlogAwards.com and I was quite impressed so I decided to do some research into it and blog about it!

Now this isn't the first blogger program I've heard about, there are quite a few of them and is popular in the UK (and USA, I'd imagine), what with the Next blogger network for fashion bloggers and Sainsbury blogger network for family/parenting bloggers to name a few. What fascinates me is the fact that a financial institution is the first I've heard to create a blogger program in Nigeria (if more of such program exist please point me in their direction!)
